Sheepdog Tip of the Day, During Combat tip 231

[Prev] [Next]

Soldiers who spend time in combat situations will notice that all of their senses become heightened. They can smell better, they can hear better, they can see better. Keith says that he can recall in great detail when he noticed this in Vietnam. "The Viet Cong had a smell about them that was unique. This, of course, had to do with their diet, hygiene, and living areas. But when we came onto sites where there were signs of recent activity, I could tell how long since they had been there by the smell."
