Sheepdog Tip of the Day, Before Combat tip 178

What does zero tolerance mean? It means that we hold ourselves and one another accountable. If my physical conditioning has slacked off, I need to get back into the gym and work harder. If my partner has been cutting corners, it means I must call him or her on it. If you are the company officer and one of your people does not wear a seat belt, you do not let the rig move until they put it on. We have to stop letting things slide. In some departments it may seem like the list of problems is too long to do anything about, but that is not true; you start with yourself, and things will begin to turn around. You have to be honest about your capabilities and your strengths and weaknesses, and strive to eliminate your weaknesses, rather than just try to do what you are good at. You must model the behavior you want others to have, and they will follow you.
