Sheepdog Tip of the Day, Before Combat tip 154

[Prev] [Next]

Our objective is to develop a "dimmer switch" that can help us control our emotions, so that we do not become emotionally handicapped by our reactions to the daily horrors we face. In the world of psychology and psychotherapy, that switch is referred to as an "adaptive emotion." When we combine adaptive emotions with a moral purpose like our virtues of honor, courage, and duty, we can find a rationality that allows us to govern our perceptions and right actions. We can choose to live in a manner that allows resiliency to flourish.
